I was told that my step-son has ADD and ADHD. I feel like that is not all of his problem. He is 6 years old and they tell me they can not test him for a learning disability until he can read and write. I feel like that will be to late. He is having a hard time in school now. I don't know if he just won't do his work or can't do his work. I am to the point I hate knowing he is coming home from school because I know I will have a bad report from his teacher. So my husband and I spend most of or time with him dicuss what he did wrong at school. I don't what to do. I beg the teachers to tell me what they think, but I guess they are all to scared to tell me or they just don't have a clue. Please help.

HELP!!!My son is 12 years old. Due to the facts not available or made known at a court hearing, I have lost custody to his father who withheld the fact that he does not want our son immunized - this is the issue where I lost, as this was finger-pointed blame on ME as being the "negligent" parent. As well as the fact that all three of us being macrobiotic (A vegetarian way of eating) again a prejudicial court systems ignorance placing me as irresponsible ( over the nutritional care of my child) by the finger pointing, once again. So a lot was not heard or just plain ignored to hear aboaut the father. and this decision was made for a great loss as me as a mother and more importantly a loss for my son, for his maternal needs. Over this last year, I have seen my son being turned against me even amplified more now that he is going through the adolescent separation from mother phase. What can you suggest as I am into another battle waged by his father and will be going to Court Conciliation. Can anyone guide me to what is needed here?

Being a parent and a step-parent is wounderful. I think when being a parent you must also be a friend. That way your child wont to afriad to talk to you. Make it clear that coming to you frist about things like drugs and sex.... you can help them make a resposiable and live saving dision.
