This game asks children to practice communicating simple instructions through both written language and non-verbal pantomime. They practice writing about a common process or activity but also get to act it out so that other players can try and guess the activity.
What to do:
1. Players divide into three teams. The first team picks a familiar chore or activity to describe, such as brushing teeth, getting dressed, making popcorn, or riding a bicycle, and writes a long, wordy description of the steps for the activity. For example, if the chore were brushing teeth, the how-to instructions would provide a long, wordy description of a toothbrush and toothpaste, opening the tube of toothpaste, putting the toothpaste on the tooth- brush, brushing up and down, etc.
2. The next team takes the instructions and crosses out as many words as possible, but still leaving enough information in the instructions for someone to be able to do the activity.
